I interviewed many musicians, DJs and music professionals during my time working on The Weekender at BBC Northampton. Some of them were household names, others not; some were friendly, others not!
Here are some examples…
Biffy Clyro
During a tour in summer 2008, Biffy Clyro called into Northampton Roadmender for a warm-up show the night before playing T In The Park in Scotland.
I requested and got some time with drummer Ben Johnston at the venue. I interviewed him for The Weekender and it was broadcast on the show the same evening.

Sukie
Kettering band Sukie recorded their debut single Pink-a-Pade in a studio in Northamptonshire at the start of 2008. I spoke to the guys for BBC Weekender and produced a short feature for the radio.

Pink-a-Pade was released through New Slang records in June, reaching number 1 in the Indie Singles Chart. Well done boys!
Shambala Festival
Shambala Festival took place in a ‘secret location’ in the north of Northamptonshire this August Bank Holiday.
I’d heard of the festival before – it came to the county last year too – but knew little about what it stood for, who it was aimed at, and what it offered the public.
So I spent the afternoon walking the fields and soaking up the atmosphere before doing a live insert into The Weekender later that evening – despite not having a great signal!

The Bees
The Bees were on a UK tour and came to Northampton to play local vene, Roadmender. We met the band during the afternoon of the gig and asked them to give us a tour of their bus, where they’ll be spending their time travelling the lenght and breth of the country.
